Stories from the Streets Co-Director
Andi joined Emmaus Ministries in 1999. Five years later, her husband Al came on staff, and together they developed the first iteration of Stories from the Streets. Crafted from interviews with the men of Emmaus, Stories provides a window into the lives of the men Emmaus serves through dramatic monologues, storytelling, and music. It has been an encouragement to Andi to witness such a compassionate response among the fellowship groups, Christian colleges, and churches that she and Al have shared Stories with.
Andi counts many blessings in her life, including her husband, her family and friends, her home church, her coworkers, making music, living in Chicago – too many to name. But among these has been getting to know many of the men of Emmaus: men who have been wounded and neglected and dismissed for much of their lives, who nevertheless freely offer themselves and their stories, revealing how resilient, fun, gifted, complex, generous, and compassionate they can be. God is working in their lives, and in Andi’s life, and it is a blessing to share that along the road.
Since 2000, Andi has been involved with Living Water Community Church, a multi-cultural urban Mennonite congregation.
