Kaio Community – KaioArts
Joshua Kent was raised by a pack of feral dogs, until a Baptist pastor and his wife found him in the bull rushes and adopted him. The young Mr. Kent was then transplanted to Deerfield, Illinois where he met his two new sisters. After five years north of Chicago, the group migrated to a western suburb of the city to truly experience post-modern isolation, and the subsequent nihilism which accompanies such non-localized ideologies. Realizing the link between transcendence and survival, Joshua began collecting rocks, twigs, and feathers on the long solitary walks he would take while exploring local ecosystems. Additionally, it was at this point that he began to develop his art practice, primarily concentrating on thick applications of tempera paint to any willing surface. These things more or less continued for years, and at some point Joshua received a bachelor of fine arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, became Roman Catholic, and shaved his head multiple times due to generalized feelings of desperation. Currently Joshua collects insects, enjoys going to the public library (but avoids checking out materials, due to inevitable unpaid fines) and going to yoga when he can.
