Volunteer with Emmaus

We appreciate our volunteers! Since November 1990, when we first began reaching out to men in survival prostitution, volunteers have played a crucial role. Over 30 volunteers regularly serve with Emmaus.

Direct Service Volunteer Opportunities

Outreach: Be part of the first contact Emmaus has with men. Outreach volunteers build relationships of trust and respect with men on the streets. Outreach teams go out one night per week from 10:30 pm to 2:30 am.

Ministry Center: Spend time with the men in our drop-in center. Come once a week to serve alongside Emmaus staff. Help prepare meals, encourage the men, play games, lead Bible studies, etc. (mostly daytime hours).

Support Volunteer Opportunities

Ministry Center Meal Preparation: Provide a meal for Emmaus to serve at our daily drop-in center.

Prison Ministry Pen Pals: Encourage men who are incarcerated through written letters and prayer. Commit to writing once or twice a month. Review our Pen Pal Guidelines and complete the Pen Pal Application (PDF) if you are interested. Note: to complete this form, download it to your computer, open it in Adobe Reader, type your answers into the form, save it to your computer, and email the completed form to penpals@streets.org. You may also return it by mail.

Prayer Partners: Not only does prayer spiritually support the work we do, but our staff, volunteers, and the men we serve draw great encouragement and strength from knowing we are in your prayers. To keep in touch with our prayer needs, “like” Emmaus on Facebook, and sign up to receive our newsletter.

Administration: Help keep Emmaus functioning by answering phones, assisting with special projects, and using your gifts to support our staff in a variety of ways.

Professional Services: Are you a licensed counselor? An attorney? Someone who has construction skills? A dentist? We may have a volunteer opportunity for you!

To learn more about any of these opportunities, contact the Educational Ministries Director by calling the Emmaus office at 773-334-6063 or emailing volunteer@streets.org.
