Our Survivor Support Center will serve as a multiple-purpose programming space. Three days a week, it will function as a Drop-in Center open to anyone and serves as a place of peace, comfort, and safety. It is a platform to build healthy relationships, connect with other survivors, and access various resources, including housing, employment, education, transportation, and health care. For clients who engage further with Emmaus, the space will serve as a Respite and Recovery Center. Clients can receive trauma-informed therapy, life coaching and grow in their walk with Jesus.

Survivor Support Center

Two locations – One Emmaus

To safeguard the privacy and well-being of our clients, Emmaus’ administrative offices and Survivor Support Center are in two separate locations within walking distance of each other. The office is highly visible to the public, raising awareness of our cause while protecting our clients.

A Healing Space

Trauma-informed care shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” Similarly, trauma-informed design recognizes how the physical environment affects an individual’s sense of identity, worth, dignity, and empowerment. We intentionally created a space to promote safety, autonomy, and a deep sense of individual value in Christ. We integrated calming colors and an open floor plan to reduce anxiety. Natural materials and abundant sunlight are proven to reduce stress and promote connection. Clean, thoughtfully designed spaces communicate to survivors their presence is valued.

Accessible from Anywhere

Clients can access Emmaus’ new location via public transportation from any neighborhood in the city. Our new space boasts over 50 bus stops and train stations within a 10-minute walk.

Saying “Yes” to Survivors

When a survivor is seeking support, our goal is to provide them with every resource possible. Victims of human trafficking often have various physical, medical, and emotional needs to be addressed. Our team has forged partnerships with agencies to meet any need that Emmaus does not provide. These agencies offer vital services to our clients, including permanent housing, substance abuse treatment, health care, job assistance, and legal support. The new location is within walking distance of 15 of these agencies allowing better access to support for our clients.
