Joel Mitchell – Executive Director

Rev. Joel Mitchell is an ordained and licensed minister who has worked in social service for over 25 years. During this time, he’s worked with youth-in-care, at-risk teens, and individuals impacted by mental illness and HIV/AIDS. As Deputy Commissioner with the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services, Human Services and Workforce Service Divisions. He was responsible for the City of Chicago’s 6 Community Service Centers’ oversight, which offered a wide range of services to low-income communities. These centers served over 30,000 individuals per year. In addition to the Community Service Centers, Rev. Mitchell led the Department’s Workforce Division, which had a budget of over $10 mil and funded over 100 delegate agencies.

Rev. Mitchell also served as the Department’s Emergency Services lead and recently led the City of Chicago’s efforts to stand up a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) for residents from Puerto Rico who were displaced by Hurricane Maria.

Along with his wife, Rev. Naomi Mitchell, founded The Marriage Investors. Through this ministry, the Mitchells provide pastoral care and coaching to married and single individuals. The Mitchell’s are also the co-authors of the book “Shattered how to Overcome a Broken Marriage”. Reverend Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Human Relations from Western Illinois University and a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary.

In 2018 he earned his Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Chicago Theological Seminary.” Rev. Mitchell shares his life, love and ministry with his Beautiful wife of 16 years, Rev. Naomi Mitchell. Together they have three wonderful children a set of 16 year old twin boys, Jasper Caleb and Jacobi Israel and a 14 year old daughter, Sidni Joi and a 5 year old Golden Retriever, Maximillion Nicolas Mitchell.
